The pristine Copper River, 300 miles long and woven from 6 glacial river systems, empties into Gulf of Alaska through a 60 mile wide rich marshland delta laced with shoals and islands. Every May 15, after the ice melts, State of Alaska Fishery Managers open the first Salmon fishery of the year. New Season Copper River salmon arrive fat from the long winter at sea and are considered to be at their peak.
